Well. It may have been the most event-packed couple of weeks in history but I made it through still alive. Genuine is now officially hitched, I went to my first new years dance, I met ALe for the first time, and Gretzky has gotten bigger than ever!
Since last post I've gained some new experiences while volunteering at the library too. For some reason I thought that a library was a library and had nothing interesting about it at all. What I now know is that there are staff rooms and vending machines, and HUGE back rooms where a lot of cubicles and computers exist. I don't know why I thought that a library was so plain and simple but it's not at all. I started volunteering in the first place so that I could get my community service hours in for social studies but now it's turned into a liking of mine. I started out for about six weeks doing shelving for those books on hold for people, but that was limited in variety of ways to make it fun, plus I had to talk to people and people had to see me. Now I work in technical services where I get to use a complicated-looking machine to clean scratched up cds that stopped working. My work station is in this quiet cement room which I don't think was ever meant to be seen by people because it's full of electrical boxes ( i counted twelve) and there are no windows, just a bunch of paintings of beaches and fields. They're like a really bad perfume to cover up a Honeybucket, if you know what I mean.
The other week I was cleaning cd's as usual and while I was waiting for the machine to stop cleansing, I saw something on a ledge in the middle of a long pole stretching towards the ceiling in the corner of the room. About eleven feet up there's an action figure that somebody had stuck up there and it never occurred to me, until that moment, that some poor soul like me was stuck in that exact same room and decided to have a little fun by sticking a small, brown-cloaked sorcerer on a pole. I salute them.
Hopefully by the end of my cd cleaning term I can say goodbye with a token of my own style somewhere in that room. Maybe a action figure friend for the lonely one up there in the corner of my little cement room.
