The Winterists

I went to my first real concert the other day. i decided that school concerts don't count so really this was an important day for me. I went with KAb, and CTa to go see the Decemberists downtown. The truth is, I hadn't really taken the time to listen to the Decemb erists before now and only knew of one song by them. Now I can't get them out of my mind. Now I'm screwed because anytime somebody asks me what my first concert was, I'll have to reply "The Decemberists" and then have to say " I'm not sure what genre they are, or what their names are, or where they come from...but they be good."
I bought one of their shirts...not because they're the bomb, but because the shirt design is tres cool. They were selling onesies too! I almost bought one for either Pandy or Gretzky, but the onesies cost more than the tees so I just left it at that.
I think I'm going to have to begin listening to their music now that I've heard them live. They sure know how to please a crowd too. One person in the audience shouted " I love your beard!" and the main singer's like " Why thanks. I've been meaning to grow it out..."
At one point the piano player couldn't stop laughing and stopped playing, making the main singer go plain for like ten seconds.
The evenings events went something like this...crystal ballroom, tee shirts, creepy faces, dead trees, butter, the decemberists, songs songs songs songs songs, accordian, drummer throws drumsticks, bathroom break, and the I went home and slept.
Finals are all this week and today I had to wake up early and go to seminary. We had a pancake breakfast and what was the easiest final ever. I just read the scriptures and wrote in my journal. After that it was an English final. I had to write a review about my silent reading book...the canterbury tales... which doesn't do well as a summary. I had to describe the charaters physically...but then realized it never told me. Then I had to talk about the conflicts and resolutions....he was fired and then married a prostitute. The End. Chaucer really didn't write these stories in an attempt for them to be talked about. They are absolutely random. I probably failed that part of the final because a lot of my answers were " Chaucer never said, but..."

Oh man. I would love to see the Decemberists in the Crystal Ballroom. (My dad and youngest brother were at that concert, too, by the way.)

I'm pretty sure Genuine left some of their music on your computer, so you can listen to it there, but if not, just say the word and I can send some of their music your way. I have lots.

I'm totally jealous. Did you love the cool floor they have in the Chrystal Ballroom? Optimistic. and I had to drive all the way to Eugene to see them and we nearly died driving home because it was so late.

I went to see "The Vandals" in Boise once in college and I only knew one of their songs...actually I still only know one of their songs. But it was still fun to go. As a random and completely useless side note for you...Judy Garland's dad once ran the Crystal. It was mentioned in her biography I read.

Love the Crystal as well, and I am not even going to tell you who my first concert was, there is nothing embarassing about saying The Decemberists were your first. Not like Bel Biv Devoe...
oops...really embarrassing.

1st concert: Better Than Ezra in Park City. Outside and it was freezing! But the music was awesome.
