Music: (myoo-zic); noun;the tones or sounds employed, occurring in single line (melody) or multiple lines (harmony), and sounded or to be sounded by one or more voices or instruments, or both.
I've always wondered what the definition of music was, and now that I've read it, I don't agree with it. This means that pretty much anything can be considered music even if it's us yelling into a microphone while a beats in the background, and there's musical instruments. Does that mean that all of those artificially created bee-bop noises created by a machine that go into the background of rap music makes rap music? I think not. Rapping is just chanting about crap, and having strangely mixed noises in the background.
I can't say I don't enjoy a few Kanye songs every once in a while, edited, but the average song today doesn't involve any instruments, or any singing!
On another note (haha NOTE) I've realized that my music tastes are strange. While people are very patient with their favorite songs...mine have to be very loud, enthusiastic, or interesting. I can't listen to a two-minute guitar solo and not change the track because it gets very boring. Also, I don't like bands. I like songs. There is a big difference because if somebody asks me what my favorite band is I just respond to which band has the most good songs. Which is normally only as high as 3-4 songs. I mean sure Weezer is one of my favorite bands, but I only 6 songs by them. Undone, Island in the Sun, Hash pipe, Keep Fishin, Photograph, and Beverly Hills. That right there is probably the most songs I've ever liked from one artist. All the other bands, I like about three songs maximum.
My favorite song changes almost every couple of weeks too. Right now it's a tie between Mirage by Tommy James and the Shondells, and I don't feel like dancin' by Scissor Sisters. It'll change in a week though. Both of those are the sogns that I wake up to in the morning so soon I'll make the connection between waking up at 5 am and those songs so then I'll learn to hate them. I really shouldn't do that because then I permanently have a grudge about them anytime I listen to them later on. That's one way to condition yourself against your favorite song.
