Well, I've accepted the fact that we're not building a new chicken coop, but that's still not stopping me from redecorating the old one. I put down some new bark chips for the floor after I weeded and cleaned up the ground first. Trees had begun to grow in there! That's how neglectful we'd been. But after only a couple hours I had redone the entire pens groundwork. I left a few of the growing trees alone though. Why? Because it's almost beautiful. It gives the chickens a place to get some shade and plant life for when they don't get to go out for any reason. That was yesterday, but today I scraped out all of the old poop and pine needles from the laying house and now it's spic and span. No more pine needles. I think I'll have to sacrifice some babysitting money from my savings and purchase some sod or shavings to put in there.

I'd love to come over and see your chicken's crib -- I see a personal progress value project brewing... You'll have to check back into the Basement to see AB's chick pics.
