Drama really is an amazing thing. and I'm not talking about highschool " oh my gosh she did what?!" kind of drama, but rather the art of stage performing.
I tried being an actor in elementary and middle school but it's not the same when you haven't got a good set of pipes that can break glass, so I've decided to go into the dark depths of the drama room currently inhabited by a ton of crazy, musically talented, dancing fools known as the drama kids.
I have a little bit of experience on a sewing machine after some personal progress projects, and since our mother is very...."recycling" we'll call it, because she is always patching holes and holding onto old clothes that we grew out of three years ago but claims they can be still good for her grandchildren. So, I've seen that machine a number of times, but it wasn't until recently that mom came home with a used surger for $9.99.
I missed one day of school last week for a no-good reason other than I woke up and said to myself " You shouldn't go to school. That would mean getting out of bed, showering and actually using your muscles! Go back to sleep, sleeeeeeep, sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep."
So, naturally, I listened and missed my theatre design 1 class. Theatre design one, when taken in the second semester interferes with the spring musical. So since the drama teacher is so occupied and rushing with having to accomplish the musical first, she put the thatre desin kids to work. We've painted, and carved, and cheese-clothed, and drilled.....and various other strange drama tasks, but none of them were meant for me. I enjoy putting my own taste and style into things and being able to let my imagination wander, so I asked Mrs.B if she'd like me to finish surging the mattresses she was doing so she could get on with more important things like costumes.
That's where it all began.
Since then I've performed various tasks that involved the surger so that Mrs.B could get more important things done, and now I'm expert. Today the surger with the white thread was acting up and they asked me to fix it. I checked the path of the different loops and needles but they all seemed fine. I continued to surge eventhough one of the left needle thread wasn't doing it's job and it made me feel awful because it looked awful. So I went to the drama room after school and asked Mrs.B if I could take the vest I was surging, home, and redo it and bring it back tomorrow.
She immediately turned away form her computer and got a smile. She told me that I should join the costume crew. I just smiled and said it sounded like fun, but then she very very much emphasized on " No. Really. You need to. I'm not kidding, that would be wonderful."
So she rushed me all around showing me the schedules and shewing me upstairs to the sewing room and introducing me to all the costume crew members. There was only five that I counted and supposedly there must be around ten to complete all the costumes on time, so I couldn't say no. All the women were spending seven hours every saturday devoted to sewing and some came during school hours to finish projects they had started before. I had to help!
So, yada yada yada, now I'm a costume crew member. I took the vest home and finished re-hemming it once I got home from school. It's beautiful.
Call me and i'll get you ticket to see the musical! We're doing "Once Upon a Mattress" about the story of the princess and the pea. Come come! I sewed the mattresses and helped pick out the sheets. I feel so important.

I'm so proud of you!!!! What a good helper you are. I gave up on drama because I cannot act to save my life. Learning to sew now will be a life saver(and $ saver) later. Just learn to throw stuff away, Allen holds onto some very threadbare stuff...at least he thinks he's still holding onto it...hehehe check the closet bubbo!
